Calendar Pages for August this time.

Hi hello and how are you today? Yippee it's Saturday, the weekend:0)
I have made some more pages for my Craft Barn Calendar.

I used Layers of  Heat Bondable film and metal flakes for this one and she is a Katzelkraft stamp, copics to colour her stole and the elegant hound was coloured with a water based marker.

Click on the images to enlarge them, if you would like to see closer.

This is the landscape page for August. Katzelkraft Airplane stamp.
Here the compass has been coated with lots of layers of paint and sanded and I added P.A Fresco Metallic on top followed by Distress crackle clear. Sakura glitter gel pen for the planesI think it gave it quite a nice finish in the end. There are details on the Craft Barn blog and this is all part of a competition, you can join in at any time. Hope you have a great weekend!

I'm a bit dotty!!!

Okay getting good at the stupid titles over here:0) Welcome everyone, lovely to see you, I'm feeling a bit  better ( I think! LOL ) I hope all is well with you:0) I couldn't take part in last week's challenge ( sorry Chrissy and Mandi) so I'm really happy to be able to this week.
The challenge at Less is More this week is to have polka dots on your card, yup I can handle that!
Don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to take photos outside, the sun is so low now. This shot was taken at 11am this morning and the sun's disappearing from the garden and going behind the house.
My stamp is by Stampotique and called 'Chilly' bbrrrr!! Sentiment from Whimsy Stamps and polka circles by Artemio. I hope you like!
Oh! I forgot to say the young lady's clothes are paper pieced with some fabulous wrapping paper, it's also the ribbon on the side and has lime green on one side and fuscia on the other. It was given to me by a lovely friend.

July pages already, WOW that went quick

Hi folks, here we are at July on the Craft Barn Calendar Challenge and here are my pages. We have been using embossing folders this week for dry embossing. Lots of inspiration from my team mates over on the blog too.

My portrait Calendar is using the Crafts Concepts EF Budding Vine, definitely a favourite. You can pick out the texture on the ballons in the picture below. The stamp is an Impression Obsession stamp, by Leigh Hannan F2418. Coloured with Copics and cut out by hand, the tiny balloon I drew because I wanted a bit of depth. The background is using distress inks.

This was loads of fun to create. I had a long think about this whole calendar project, choosing stamps and images that you will be looking at for a whole month can be quite a challenge. If you have joined us, how did you choose your images? I'd love to know:0)

Here, below, is the landscape page I used a Crafts Too EF this time, Leaves! stamps by Crafty Secrets, Sweet Kids again:0) I hope it looks a little like a blustery but warm day, that's what I was thinking as I made it. The flowers have been embossed as well with the Budding vine folder I used on the page above.
Details of all the products can be found on the Craft Barn Blog
Thanks for looking at my pages, lots more to come , well six actually! LOL Gay xxx

A new crafty direction

Hi folks, I have been intrigued lately by some crafty friends and their forays into journals and painting. Linda from My Happy Place  a very talented lady who was kind and sent me a link to Christy Tomlinson and I watched one of her videos on You Tube. This is my first ever journal page, totally inspired by Christy. I have to tell you I loved every minute of it. So different from clean and simple:0)
If you've started journalling please share, I'd love to see:0)

Flaming June, LOL

My June pages are here, all hot stuff, I wish!!! LOL
Hello and welcome to the Craft Barn Calendar inspiration!

This landscape page for the calendar is the hot stuff to which I refer, I heated the copper metal sheet to get it to change colour, great fun but take care as it gets mightily hot.
More details at the Craft Barn Blog.

Cooling things down a little here is the portrait version. I used a Dreamweaver stencil and Dreamweaver translucent embossing paste for both my pages, the details of the stencils and the pastes are on the Craft Barn blog, link up above.

For this calm Lily I needed to colour the paste so I used Paper Arsty Fresco paint. I like the subtle colour it gave. For the hot stamen colour I used a deep orange mica paint. the stamps are Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge, the products that I used came from the Craft Barn

How's your calendar going? If you want to leave a message in the comments. I will be happy to talk about any techniques or maybe any products that I've used.
Thanks for dropping by, Gay xxx

I used
Dreamweaver stencils and Dreamweaver Paste
Metal work set

OLW 67 Thoughtsgiving.

Olw 67 is at Jennifers blog this week and she has challenged us to make a card for someone who is struggling with a battle and Jennifer said

This week, the challenge is to make and send/deliver a “Thinking of You” card to someone who is struggling with any kind of battle. I would also like all participants to make a five dollar (or more!) donation to the cancer research/cause of their choice.

Thanks go to Jennifer for prompting me to act, sometimes we need a small push:0) My donation went to  Breast Cancer Care , who provide help and support.

I made a card for a friend who is coping with her battle right now and she is very brave:0)

I used an Impression Obsession Cover a Card stamp and I selectively inked just a roundel from the design.
Sentiment from SU

I'm all heart............... oh yes.............. they get worse (the headings) LOL

Hello crafty people, It's a blustery, warm, fairly sunny day here, great for getting all the washing dry:0)
I have at last got my act into gear and made a card for LIM 36 This week the lovely Divas Chrissie and Mandi have challenged us to make a one layer card with hearts!

I used a Nelliie Snellen's die, I didn't cut with it though I embossed it, twice. In the centre of the overlapped designs I painted the metallic paint and then over the top again with clear crackle paint. When it was dry I did the little dots with a clear glitter gel pen.

It turned out okay and I think you can see the glittery pearly/ crackled  aspects of the layers of paint :0)

Edited:
Chrissie and Carol asked how I embossed the images:
It really was straightforward, I just embossed both hearts using the no more shims embossing mat. The first heart (at the back) showed through the on the front but I used my easy score tool and flattened out the unwanted lines. Of course the paint helped to conceal the rest. Hope that helps:0)

I used Nellie Snellen Multi Frames Die MFD 022
Distress Crackle Clear Rock Candy
Paper Artsy Metallic paint
Sentiment from Waltzingmouse Fancy Phrases

All about the eyes!

Hi Folks, What happened to the sun? Have you got it with you? Well didn't we have a wonderful sunny warm few days? It was gorgeous here for a long time!
I have made a card for the LIM 35 which is about the colour of your eyes...................well pardon the photo being on the side, I had to get my face under the daylight bulb and the camera has a function which turns the photo if the camera is tilted, can't turn it off but you get the colour of my eyes, right? Forget the droopy eylids and tired look, no don't turn round to see it properly tut now you've spoiled the illusion, you're supposed to be looking at the colour! right? LOL
Sort of brown with a bluey grey edge. I have tried to capture that with my card, the bluey shade is sprayed onto the speckles. I wasn't going to share because I was uninspired this week and my card's a bit lame again but I didn't want to miss a week.:{ I have a feeling I boiled over last week with the 1000 card challenge and there wasn't much left after that... burn out !!!LOL Anyway     here it is. By my way of thinking you don't need to be at Christmas for this greeting, am I wrong? I have used a stamp from Deborah's candy that I won, yummy!!                                                 Right I'm off to check out some lovely Limmettes creations, TTFN, Gay
