Rose who said... I would love to see demo's and samples using Stampbord
In case you haven't encountered Stampbord before it's VERY hard MDF with a superior ceramic coating which is perfect for taking inks, you can heat set and emboss and I'm told you can make holes in it with a cropadile but as I don't have one, I'll have to take their word for that LOL.
I used Distress inks on the Stampbord and then Memento Tuxedo black for the Andy Skinner broken heart. When it was dry I scratched highlights in the Stampbord and used a black Copic around the edge of the pieces. I added the text sometimes because hearts do get broken 'Sometimes'.
The background, I drew the design on the card to resemble cracks in a broken window and stamped the Gothic text over this, I layered the fabric over because I liked the way the design showed through from behind. Then placed the Stampbord as if the heart was breaking and falling away.

I used Stampbord 3x 2"by1"pieces
Andy Skinner Gothic stamps,
Distress inks
Barn door, Dusty concord and Broken china.
Black Copic pen to do the edges of the Stampbord.

Wow - a lot of thought has gone into that card. It's very arty. I like it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on Stampbord . . . I have some ovals, but have never used them as I didn't know what to do with 'em!
Thanks for the info.
Hugs, Sandra x
Great work, the colours give it a very striking and dramatic effect. And you can make holes in it with the cropadile! And in tin, leather, I think almost anything, it is a great tool! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThat stampbord looks so cool.. I have never seen it before.. I love the way the colors look on the background and the embossing really pops..
ReplyDeleteI love it. I really do.....
Hugs, Linda
Gay - this is really fabulous - very original! Love the broken glass effect and the image is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWow a fantastic, creative, arty card! Love the quirkiness esp. the tilting away of the last tile in the triptych. The colours work so beautifully together with that gothic feel. I'm in awe :) Px
ReplyDeleteAnother thoroughly fabulous card Gay, so much work and thought go into your creations. This is a beautiful and dynamic piece.
