Wonderful weekend!

What's French for something that isn't what it appears to be? Well that's what Isabelle asked everyone on the Craft Barn blog at the end of last week, now I knew the answer but even I had to think for a moment!!

Hello there and welcome, Yes it's FAUX you knew all along didn't you (:0)
Here is my card and I chose to use faux enamelling, I stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder. After it had cooled I painted with cheap bleach, being very careful not to inhale the fumes or spill it. When dry I painted with distress ink and finally used Diamond Glaze to give dimension and the enamel finish.
There are more pictures on the Craft Barn Blog and so many different faux finishes too. The DT team have been really inventive this week.

I used
Diamond Glaze
Butterfly Kisses stamps, Roses (again! Love them :)
Frantage Aged Gold Embossing Enamel
Distress ink, Barn Door

Well I'm back from my hols:0) Hubby and I travelled to Italy and went to see Arezzo, Sienna, Florence, Rome and Assisi. We had a fabulous time but it was absolutely exhausting, I think we walked for most of the week, my knees are groaning LOL
This is a wonderful ceiling from an historic building in the centre of Florence and I loved it more than all the rest, except for the Sistine of course!

This is me, in the centre of Rome, taking a well earned rest after lunch and getting ready for another long walk!!!! It was worth it though.

Whilst I was in Rome I met up with Giovanna my DT team mate from the Craft Barn! It was excellent, we had an Italian ice cream, yum yum and a few giggles too and she gave me a beautiful heart that she had made, soo clever, wish I could sew like this

WOW It's gorgeous!!! I am a very lucky lady:0)

I'm making my way down my comments list and will visit you soon, have a wonderful weekend my friends, Gay x

oh wonderful card and sounds like you had a brillant time in Italy, the ceiling pic is beautiful. In the Sistine did you see the man being biten by a snake? I laughed out loud when I saw it - apprentley it was the artists' response to critics!EE

Hi Gay! WOW to your faux enameling, absolutely beautiful, you're so clever to make it a one layer card as well, I don't how you do it and it's so gorgeous.

Loved your holiday pictures and it sounds like the perfect trip to me though I know how exhausting it can be :). Brilliant that you met up with Gio and the heart she made for you is beautiful too.

Hugs,

Wow! This is stunning - it looks so much like enamel. I love the texture too, and the way you've used the bleach for the splash effect. Great work.

Your holiday sounds amazing - Italy is a place that I've always wanted to visit - and will do, eventually!!

Loved reading this post Gay. Sounds like you had a fabulous time! Whenever Dave and I go on holiday we walk for miles - in blistering heat, lol! I'm not a 'sit by the pool' person; I just love seeing the sights.

What a beautiful gift from your friend.

It all looks so good and even a bit of sun and heat ay? Love that ceiling too and the heart is so beautiful, how thoughtful of her.

As for your card it's WONDERFUL, maybe even I could try this, 'cause I use a lot of bleach, perhaps if I just drop a few drops and glaze it? nah! it'll never look as good as yours :)

Beautiful card Gay.

Love hearing about your holiday my daughter did the south of Italy last year and said she would love to have gone further north. Only trouble was she was studying volcanoes and came home with a suitcase full of clothes smelling of sulphur!! Well worth it tho!!

Enjoy your heart it is beautiful..xx
